Detailed Description

This template guideline, developed for a number of regional municipalities in Victoria, aims to provide greater consistency in council requirements for WSUD. The requirements cover:
  • The approvals process from pre-application consultation to information requirements for submitting detailed design proposals.
  • Design consideratiosn - including issues to consider when selecting appropriate WSUD elements;
  • Requirements for construction, protection, maintenance and handover of WSUD assets; and(including proposed defect liability periods for vegetated stormwater assets);
  • Requirements for sites less than 1 hectare in size.
Pag 9 reiterates the objectives for on-site treatment relating to urban stormwater quality (as outlined by the Victorian Stormwater Committee, 1999: Best Practice Environmental Management Guidelines). Despite the differing legislative context in Victoria (clearly set out in section 1.6 of the document), many of these issues are common to the development assessment interests of NSW local councils.

The template indicates that council-specific technical objectives and specifications may be included in the Appendices.

Table A-1, Appendix A, is a tabular summary of treatment performance, site suitability, cost and maintenance issues for a range of WSUD Solutions.
